Thermal Conductivity Testing & Analysis

To obtain a reasonably accurate value for the formation thermal conductivity, a test measuring this value needs to be performed on a vertical heat exchanger (VHE) at the geothermal loopfield site.  GHP Systems, Inc. can provide this thermal conductivity testing and analysis. 

This in-situ thermal conductivity testing, or more commonly called heat dump testing, has water that is heated with a constant energy input circulating through the VHE piping.  The temperature of the water, with respect to time is recorded.  Based on the increase in water temperature with respect to time, the formations thermal conductivity can be calculated.
